Episode #6: Intentional Living: Making More Out of Your Day with Kimberly Amici

December 29, 2016

Welcome to episode number 6 which is all about intentional living with Kimberly Amici. I connected with Kimberly after reading her blog about feeling hopeless and overwhelmed in the midst of motherhood.

I asked myself, what is intentional living and how will it help me?

No matter how hard I try, what I expect to get done and what I actually get done never match up.

Why are there more days when I feel like I’m surviving versus thriving?

Intentional living lets us focus more on living to our fullest rather than putting the checks on our to-do-list.

In this episode, Kimberly walks us through 6 ways we can put purpose back into our schedules while repurposing our priorities. I hope you find her tips as worthy as I do.

Episode #5: Friendships in the Season of Motherhood with Noelle Rhodes

Episode #5: Friendships in the Season of Motherhood with Noelle Rhodes

December 15, 2016

Welcome to episode number 5: Friendships in the Season of Motherhood with Noelle Rhodes. I met Noelle in a writing group on Facebook. She recently started working on her own podcast a month or so before me. After stalking her shows on Stitcher, I knew I wanted her to share her research about friendship with you.

Sometimes I feel like all my friendships are failing.

No one really gets me. How do I define the point of finding new friends, and letting go of others? Should I tell my friend that I think we are falling apart? Let’s face it, friendships are hard.

Noelle answers some of these tough challenging questions everyone asks themselves. I hope you find her answers as valuable as I do!

If her story inspires you as well, make sure to comment below and share her message with your friends too!

About the Friending Podcast Host

Noelle's a New Jersey momma who loves to talk about friendship. She’s a writer, speaker, podcast host on the show Friending, and a mom of two beautiful children. If you sat down and had a cup of coffee with her, she probably would have strong opinions about the Oscars, board games, and Netflix.

She lived in Ireland for six years doing missionary work and then moved back to her beagle loving city of New Jersey. When she moved back she found it hard to connect with old friends from long ago. That's when her passion for talking about friendship started. She also loves Jesus and meeting new people.

How Important are Friendships in the Season of Motherhood?

It's hard to find good friends. Finding new friends and keeping in touch with friends in different seasons can be challenging. We all parent in various ways and it's hard to escape the judgment from other moms.

So how important is it for us to work on friendships in the season of motherhood?

What does Noelle say to this? Friendships are crucial! We need someone to tell us we're not alone.

Read the full story on the Passion Brewing Momma Blog.

Here’s an outline of the sweet stuff in episode five:

  • All about Noelle's passion for writing and speaking
  • When to define letting go of a friendship, or repairing it
  • What to do when we feel disconnected with our friends
  • What squad goals and why we need them

Listen to find out why everyone needs a Janet!

I hope you enjoy Noelle's wisdom on friendship as much as I do.

May your day be filled with friends that make you smile, another friend to say I’m here for you, and a little bit of sunshine. For we never know what goodness the day can bring until we fully love who we are.

Once you listen, feel free to leave a comment/suggestion/question below. Are you a momma that has a passion for something and want to share with us?

Go fill out the interview form and schedule an interview.

I’d love to connect and hear your story!

Episode #4: Living a Purposeful Mom Life and Bravely Breaking Barriers

Episode #4: Living a Purposeful Mom Life and Bravely Breaking Barriers

November 29, 2016

Have you ever felt a barrier to the joy you see in others?  Living a purposeful life feels meaningless when you throw dirty diapers and laundry into the mix. But, when we dig into this barrier that most of us hold, we start breaking down purpose on a whole new level.

Bravely Breaking the Barrier of Perfect

It's not easy breaking the habit of seeing everyone else's life as perfect. When I hit a rough spot a couple of years ago, everyone around me started looking brighter and flashier.

My husband, a man who sets his mind to finish what he starts, decided he wanted to make a change in his life. While his alarm clock rang and the sound of his running shoes hit the floor, I continued to get nestled in my warm bed feeling hopeless.

While the blender spun around his protein powder and banana, all I craved was a big plate full of hash browns and ice cream for dessert.

My jeans snuggly fit around my waist while he was excited about fitting into a smaller pair of pants.

The joy of life in others didn't stop there, my friends wore smiles and joy way better than I could put on. They spoke to their children in a breathtaking manner. And, they could tackle meltdowns over sharing without breaking down alone in their bathroom.

Everything in everybody else’s life seemed knitted together perfectly.

Not to mention Facebook. The place where I ran to most whenever I felt overwhelmed, defeated and lonely was the same place that knocked me down two more flights of stairs. Let me remind you of a Facebook scroll in just a few words. Perfect Marriage, Perfect Friends, Perfect life.

Let me tell you. My marriage is far less romantic, my friends are far less there, and

my life is a jumbo ball of knots compared to what I see.

Two years after being a stay-at-home mom I still couldn’t figure out how to keep an orderly house, or my emotions in check. Long enough start to find something for me too!

Before I started writing at night, before my heart started beating again, I was lost. I was angry.

In addition to my son, I lost my dad to cancer and my childhood best friend from an asthma attack.

In spite of my anger, I had to know if God was real. I had to see if there were any flaws in the bible that I stored by my bedside untouched.

Never in my life had I been so intrigued to read the bible, but that’s where I started breaking that same barrier I created.

Honestly, I didn't even know it was there until my life as a mom felt unbearable and lifeless.

Living a purposeful life is far more reachable when we understand what we are dealing with on the inside.

Episode #3: Make Time For What You Love: When There’s No One to Watch Your Kids

Episode #3: Make Time For What You Love: When There’s No One to Watch Your Kids

November 10, 2016

Making Time For Yourself

What’s more important than to make time for what we love?

Of course, all of us moms love our children, but what about that opportunity to sit down and read a book? How about making time for the love of art or crafts? And, what if you don’t know what you love to do?

Let’s be honest, making time for yourself can be hard as a mom! Some of us are blessed with people who can watch our kids while we get a bit of time alone. Other moms, like myself, fit every babysitting opportunity to take a date night with our husband.

Do you struggle with wrapping your mind around fitting YOU time in your schedule?

If so, I get it and this podcast is just for you!

Laundry, dishes, bills, grocery shopping, yard upkeep, food making, bath time, snuggles, keeping your kids from permanent meltdowns, God time, helping a friend out, dedication to strengthening your marriage, and whatever else pops into the schedule.

We’re busy.

We feel responsible for managing it all, and if we don’t the world around us will cave in.

Maybe even stop turning!

Our schedule is LIMITED.

And if you’re like me, you often leave yourself off the schedule.

But, just like we invest in our relationship with God, our kids, and our marriage, we have to invest in whom God created us to be too.

The truth is God wants us to make time for what we love, not only our husband and our kids but for things we personally love.

Have you ever thought— I wish there was more time for me?

I wish I could have a moment to myself to BREATHE!

We all need time to refuel ourselves without feeling guilty about it!

In fact, our limitations are within our decisions to choose what we do.

Making time for you is possible if we chose to make it happen!

Episode #2: Paper Crafting: Finding Your Happy Place with Jaclyn Gyesie

October 27, 2016

Welcome to episode number two: Paper Crafting: Finding Your Happy Place with Jaclyn Gyesie. After publishing my first episode, Jaclyn got in touch with me on Instagram and shared her story of finding her passion. I knew I wanted you to hear it too, so fearfully I asked her to be on the show.

Having her share her own struggle in making time for the woman beneath mom made me know this is right where God wants me. If her story inspires you as well, make sure to comment below and share her message with your friends too!

About the Paper Crafting Creator

First, Jaclyn is an amazing mom and one who has truly found her happy place. She works full time as an IT Procurement Specialist at U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General. At the end of the day, she wraps her arms around her two sons and husband of thirteen years.

She pursues her passion in the paper crafting world and even started her own small business. Jaclyn loves watching her kids play soccer and creating beautiful works of art with the Silhouette Cameo (don’t worry we will go over this later).

Introducing The Passion Brewing Momma

Introducing The Passion Brewing Momma

October 13, 2016

Hey everyone! Welcome to my first episode of The Passion Brewing Momma Podcast.

I’m so excited for you to be here. This is a whole new avenue for me, but God has really put on my heart to speak to moms personally.

A year ago I actually laughed at the thought of hosting my own podcast. I’m not a speaker—I’m a writer! But, earlier this summer God kept pushing me to start. I’m not a person who jumps into these ideas, so He knew I would need some more convincing.

In July, I attended an amazing Christian writer’s conference that God opened the door for me to attend. Months before I was preparing a book proposal in case I got off the waiting list to meet a publisher—and indeed I got off that list.

Pitching my idea to several women, an agent, and a publisher made me see the importance of my ministry to moms. Yes, I can say ministry now! If I could come to a conference miles away, prepare a book proposal I had no idea how to make, and pitch my heart and soul of my passion, then surely I could record a podcast.

The name Passion Brewing Momma speaks for itself. In this podcast, you will hear me discuss my own passion and hear other mommas share theirs. My hope is to brew some ideas for your own so that you can find confidence, hope, and beauty in who you are as a mom, and as a woman.

Before I discovered my passion for writing I was in a big dark hole. I found myself sitting on my stinky bathroom floor hiding from life. I thought God’s purpose for me was only motherhood. Every since I was a little girl I dreamed of being a mom, but the repetitiveness of housework and parenting seemed far less purposeful than before. It’s tough being a mom.

It’s exhausting. It’s demanding. And it takes so much out of us!

Discovering the woman beneath the stained t-shirt, unorganized house, and let’s just say hot mess was the best thing that has ever happened to me.

I hope to bring you encouragement and hope by sharing my story, telling the real raw truth of mommyhood, and the big secret of finding joy in the chaos.

This podcast is all about you mom!

In today’s show, I will share some of the expectations of the podcast and my personal story of losing my identity in the chaos of motherhood.

Here’s an outline of the sweet stuff in episode one:

  • Why your listening/what to expect

  • My vision for future podcasts

  • How this podcast started brewing

Thank you for stopping by, enjoy the show! May your day be filled with giggles, rotten sour milk cups, and a little bit of sunshine. For we never know what goodness the day can bring until we fully love who we are.

Once you listen, feel free to leave a comment/suggestion/question below. Are you a momma that has a passion for something and want to share with us?
